Computers

Update: 13-02-2025

The hobby for computers originated in the beginning of the Commodore 64 era. Writing programs and later also creating a complete overflow control unit to give a complete slideshow with 2 projectors. My first PC was an 80286 with a 62MB disk and that was quite a lot in 1990. Later I set up a Novel Network with a neighbor hobbyist. Internet via the cable was on the rise. Connection requested, unfortunately Novel was not able to talk to the outside world via a network card at that time. So, Novel server has been shut down and replaced for a Windows NT server. Later that became 2 so that in addition to local data we could also run a mail server and a web server. That is still the case today. However, of course no longer under Windows NT. That was replaced at the time by Windows 2000, then Windows 2003 and then Windows 2008 R2. At the beginning of this year, a major upgrade was carried out of both hardware and software. 2 new servers are now running under Windows Server 2022. In addition, there are 2 Linux machines active, one as a VoIP (telephone) server and one as a firewall.
